Our Values
As a human-centered local arts agency, DCA employees and programs provide services that are rooted in the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Excellence, and Access (IDEEA) core values framework at every level of the agency:
Inclusion
Authentically bringing traditionally excluded individuals and/or groups into processes, activities, and decision/policy making in a way that shares resources and power.
Diversity
DCA embraces all the ways in which people differ, encompassing different characteristics that make one individual or group different from another. We also recognize that individuals affiliate with multiple identities.
Equity
DCA’s selection processes are fair and equitable. All eligible artists, arts organizations, and cultural providers are encouraged to apply and participate in DCA opportunities and will be evaluated through a transparent, competitive review process.
Excellence
DCA delivers high-quality arts and cultural programming to the residents and visitors of Los Angeles.
Access
DCA is committed to providing arts and cultural experiences as a public service, ensuring that all residents have access to cultural programming in their neighborhoods and communities.
Public Land Acknowledgment
It is important that we prioritize respect for both the historic culture and the contemporary presence of indigenous peoples throughout California, and especially in the Los Angeles area. To that end, and particularly as a public and civic institution, we acknowledge that our facility resides on what was historically the homeland of Kizh, Tongva, and Chumash peoples who were dispossessed of their land.
